Time to Shine 2 - 31st May

New Creation Church’s NUS Cluster organized an excursion fer New Town Primary underprivileged children to Changi Airport’s Terminal 3!

-My caregroup took care of Malaysia Airlines class.

I was assigned to an Indian girl, Logadarshini, whom I was told had slow speech.
How ironic was that. Her mentor fer the day tends to talk a lil too fast.

The other two were Mich and her mentee, whomifergotthename.

At the beginning, she was extremely quiet.
She was practically whispering to me.
Most of the times I just nodded to acknowledge her replies.
Tried as I might, I could hardly make up what she was trying to say.

But things changed when we played games at the viewing gallery.

She spotted a fountain beyond the glazed walls and started yakking on about how her pet fishes and swimming etc.

Hallelujuah! Hahaha!

Oo.. And we talked about fishing too!
That was how the ice broke and the gold came out.
Interesting..

Had Macs fer lunch..
Camped outside Macs cause we’re simply too big a group.

Then it’s ‘Suck your brain’ time fer the guys & boys!
The big brothers got their brains sucked and taupok-ed by the lil’ ones..

After lunch was drawing session.
Or they have to call it in such a way, ‘Affirmation’ time.
Why. To assert/declare what? It just didn’t sound appealing to me.

To 7 year olds, paper+crayons=drawing time.............

I helped her out with colour selection.

Macs lunch was his 4th meal of the day and he still had a whole boxful of homemade sushi in his bag.

Loga never stopped talking till we’re back on the bus.
I asked her to take a nap.
Hahaha.

From the conversations, I realised she didn’t have slow speech.
Her pronunciation of words just wasn’t clear.
Most probably, her teachers won’t know this till they communicate with her well enough.

Had a dance and drum performance done by Pri 4 students to convey their appreciation.

At the end of the day, every lil’ kid had a goodie bag of stationeries, BATA shoes, socks, and books and they went smiling all the way home!

Retard Fishing Trip - 27th May

Coming back to where I last stop, I would say this is my most memorable fishing trip at Bedok Jetty to date.

Though I’ve so many fishing khakis now, I can still remember something special about each fishing trip sans the date.

However, this was so retarded that I kept smiling as I lay on my bed at night (with mayee beside me), recapturing the crazy hilarious events that took place earlier in the afternoon.

On that particular Tuesday, Alvin, Mayee, Michelle, Shing Lam and I went as a group fer fishing.

Throughout, Mayee and I kept POKING fun of them, with Alvin singing ‘Stick a banana in your ear’ and ‘Choogah Choogah Choo Choo’ from ‘Charlie the Unicorn’ show.

It was also my first time PITCHING UP A TENT at the jetty which I really think it was a good idea fer what came later on.

Yessss, the sky began to turn dark. The winds showed no mercy and threatened to blow the entire tent away.

And holy moly, our hair were standing! It’ static and lightning’s about to strike anytime.

My first experience was with Pat and Claud. Haha, always wanted to witness this phenomenon again, since *gulp* 7 years ago.

Now the magic’s back!

My line got tangled up and a good lil’ Samaritan ran over to help me.

The first ever fish that Shing caught!

The rain stopped after a while.

But it soon got worse. In the midst of the storm we had to tie the tarpaulin over the tent to prevent water seepage.

Many a times I had to jump, catch and pull the tarpaulin down with all my might as it flapped furiously in the wind before someone came over to secure it. And when one of the raffia string broke loose, hell broke loose.

Mich and I had to scramble into the tent to act as weights.

Oo. I AM A TENT WEIGHT!

Geez. All these while, Alvin was shouting commands like a lunatic.

Nothing as cool like this photo you see here with his long rod sticking out.

The ah peks were staring and smiling at us. I felt like the whole thing was a joke.

When we finally settled, Mayee, Alvin and Shing were the most drenched. DUH EMILY..

Hahaha, but we’re still at all smiles.

WET LOOK. *wolf whistles*

In the tent, we played card games and consumed obsene amount of junk.

Dinner was at Siglap (o, Ribena Lemon tastes refreshingly great) and dessert at Gelare before Alvin and Mayee came to stay over at my house again!

A hiatus from blogging

The past week I'd been Staying back for NO PAY OT, and once till 1am.

Plus I had to come back to work on a Saturday..

But my friend commented I still looked fresh and cheery.

It’s a disguise.

I felt like a Sung Muey (a dried prune) after entire week in an airconditioned environment and all that energy drained. 

And I must say.. My eyes hurt.so.much, I didn’t turn on my laptop fer days

BUT NOW I AM REJUVENATED!!

I'll be moisturising myself with annointed olive oil next week!

Hurhurhur, can't wait.

May there be NO MORE OT in JESUS' NAME!!

First Day @ Work

First day at work was fun with friends to the left and right of me.

Was allocated a temporary seat at a ‘God-forsaken’ corner.
But I love it here.

4 year 3 interns at this bay.
Around 10 more elsewhere.

Imagine what it would have been if there were none.


It's great that I can listen to my mp3 player too!
It had been left on the shelf since I came back from Korea.



The only downside's that I can't access to some sites nor blog..
Amazingly, Chick Tracks comic are available though the controversial site is banned in Singapore!


Fer now and till July, I'd just have to type and send an e-mail to myself during work before returning home to pepper the blog with fabulous photos and post!

A&E - 19th May

Night time belonged to Alvin DarLIN!

Celebrated our first anniversary together.

Check out my eye bags..
Slept at 6am cause I had to finish doing up my presents fer him.

O yeah, last minute.
But the ‘concept’ was conceived during Reading week whilst studying fer Heavenly Mathematics.
(And I am so gonna S/U it now. Pui. But considering every question (15-20marks each) was a 2 liner answer like this small paragraph here, the fact that I passed was eye popping.)

I took the Mister to Stone Grill since he hadn’t been there before.




The whole 2nd level was ours fer a good 20mins >> excellent photo-taking opportunity.




This was when my addiction to Portobellos resurfaced again.
By the way, my obsession to sashimi had faded, though I like them still.


Presenting my presents from darling.

He bought me the book, 'Destined To Reign'.

The bookcase was done by scouring technical board, putting plastic and a nice print over it.

Being fastidious, he wasted many boards to make it purrfect.
And the product's brilliant!

He has talent fer design isn't it? 




The book also included a self-made bookmark.

 


He also gave me a mug fer collecting dust. Hurhur.

And a sticker which I think wasn't that nice cause he photoshopped my head till it’s too flat!

But overall, I still love the gifts he showered me with!

Amanda's 22nd

The Birthday Woman’s celebration was spent at Changi Airport’s spanking new Terminal 3.

We treated her to Dian Xiao Er.
(Air-conditioning there was bad, we’re on slow cooker)

Considering our friendship of 7 years, plus the fact that we’re all Chinese, it’s rather surprising that this was our very first Chinese-themed lunch together!



After lunch, we plonked ourselves at the plushy seats of Coffee Club and chatted o’er coffee/tea fer 4 hours, occasionally making trips to the ladies..

We vacated the place only because it’s time fer dinner andAlvin and I had a special date.

Yes, the three of them had dinner at the airport too.
That’s 7 hours at the airport fer them.

This shall be my swan song post on Korea.

Okay, I am wrapping it up with the last day before I leave fer Japan on 23rd Dec, Sunday.

This may as well act as a guide fer future exchange students to Hanyang University at South Korea. Fer my juniors! (Divide ₩ by 600 to get SGD)



Let’s start from on a usual Sunday morning..
I’d go to Saeansan Church, now known as Dream Church.
A 20min walk from hostel. There’s an English Service by Pastor Jae (handsome and in his late 20s) at 12pm.
If you ever attend, do render your services!



Favourite food haunts near school.



Ji Gae Ji Gae! About 2500₩ per person.
The side dishes are really nice!



There's this auntie-uncle shop which we named after the old couple who run it.
Great food and their service, tops!
Poured us water (though it's self service) and gave us gum after meals.
Their dolseop bibimbap is to die for! 2500₩
Most importantly, it is the only stall nearest to school which opens on Sunday.



Then there's the Toast Shop next to them.
Try all their toast and watch them make toasts on hot stove with great dexterity!
Ranging 800₩ to 2000₩ I think.
Fresh fruit juice sold here too!



Udon-Ya is close by.
The bosses are brothers and they stayed in Japan before, hence their Japanese eatery,
Whenever Miao and I visited, we always had extra dishes from them, and once they even served us authentic Jap tea from their own personal storage.
I guess, the rest weren’t as blessed. Haha



And just righhhht outside school, is Ma Dang, which my senior introduced to me on MSN.
Fer 5000₩, it’s enough fer 2-3 people!
It was our first eatery we went to without the Koreans during our 1st month.
We didn’t know what to order and just looked blur at the auntie.
She said a string of Korean and presented 2 dishes fer us in the end with a plate full of fried pork as side dish.
The steamed egg was the first to be wiped out.

There are more food eateries at the inner lanes.
That’s where we have MamaII Western Meals, Tuna Bibimbap with delicious side dishes, numerous watering holes and out of the world ktv sessions (No-rae-bang)




Back to school, here’s the main entrance and the bustop where we’d take a free shuttle bus to Handeap Station or Lotte Mart.

Behind Lotte Mart, there’s yet another hypermart which sells more variety.
Fer girls, buy as many SkinFood products!
They are a heaven lot cheaper than Singapore. Eg, a nailpolish cost half the price there.



Passed by the post office where I'd sent sweet nothings home and to Alvin.
Shipped backed a back-breaking load of stuff from here too.



I met my studiomates fer the last time.
Prof Yoo gave the Korean students a talk and presented to Ho Yeon (whom he always call Shy Boy) a gift fer being the most hardworking student!
Felt extremely happy fer him!!

Then, they gave me an exquisite traditional Korean Fan and a Christmas card.
Thanks so much folks!

Su Jin and Bo Young were the ones who introduced me to Korean online shopping and assisted me with my purchases of 5 bags, 1 watch and a few other stuff.
They cooked dinner fer me too!



The Guys and I.
Gosh, Jisu. My best partner ever.
There was once I repeatedly refused his kind offer to help get my print job done cause he had some work submission due in an hour but he insisted to cycle out with me in the end!

Kyeong Duk , I’d never ferget the ‘private broom’ incident and he greeting me ‘Emily Anyeong’ all the time in studio.
Il Hyeon, the hilarious one and most patient guy ever, taught me Korean.
Ho Yeon, his wonderful girlfriend who bought him a heater fan and supper fer us.

There're still a long list I'd like to acknowledge, like Jin Tae, Sun Ki and so on..
The Koreans were truly great hosts beyond words.
And this exchange programme was a once in lifetime experience indeed.

Missing everyone and everything so so much.

P.S. Jisu maybe popping by Singapore in July! Ooo!
